相手に期待することを伝えること 人との信頼関係を作るために大切なこととして、『約束を守ること』『誠実であること』『ちょっとした気遣いをすること』など、他にもいくつかの要素があります。 これまでの人生を振り返ると、比較的実践できていたこと、状況によってできたりできなかったりしたことなど色々ありますが、中でも自分自身の中で『決定的に出来ていなかったこと』が一つ判明しました。 それは、相手に対して『期待を明確にする』ということです。 自分が若い頃、担当者として動き回っていた時は、『とにかく目の前にある仕事をこなすこと』に必死でした。 スタッフが増えて他人に仕事を任せるべき立場になってからも、しばらくの間は『自分でやった方が早い』とばかり考え、当初はなかなか任せることが出来ませんでした。 ここ最近では、ようやくそれが出来るようになってきたと感じていたのですが、それでもやはり上手くいく時とそうでない時があります。 上手くいかなかった時のことを振り返ると、結局自分がやっていたのは、『個々の仕事をこなすことを頼んでいた』にすぎなかったことに気付きました。 『期待を明確にする』ということは、個々の仕事だけでなく、それらを通して『その先にあるものを達成すること』を委託すること。 『仕事を頼む』のではなく、『相手を頼る』ということなのかも知れません。 期待を明確にすることによって、『あなたはこんなことが達成できる人だと信じています』というメッセージも同時に届けているように感じます。 このことを認識した後、こちら側のちょっとした伝え方の違いで、『相手の動きが大きく変わった』ということが実際に起きました。 このことはまだ学んだばかりなので、もっと色んな局面で試していきたいと思います。 Clarify expectations of the other party There are several other factors that are important for building trust with people, such as ‘keeping your word,’ ‘being honest,’ and … Read More
