Craftsman A says that when he is sharpening, he feels that it ‘bends (deflects) more easily than before.

職人Ａが言うには、研いでいる時の感覚として『以前よりも曲がりやすい（たわみやすい）』ということです。

 

 

If the knife itself is bent, even if you think you are sharpening it in the same way, different parts will be sharpened, resulting in an unintended shape.
We immediately contacted D, a young outside blacksmith, about this and asked him to find out the cause.

However, this time something interesting has happened regarding this.

That is, craftsman B did not feel any particular discomfort when sharpening the same lot of knives, and was able to proceed with the sharpening as before.

包丁自体が曲がってしまうと、同じように研いでいるつもりでも違う部分が削れてしまい、意図しない形状に仕上がってしまいます。
これについては、すぐに外部の若手鍛冶職人Ｄに連絡し、原因を探ってもらうことにしました。

ただ、今回はこのことに関して興味深いことが起きました。

それは、職人Ｂが同じロットの包丁を研いでも特に違和感は感じず、以前と同じように研ぎを進めることができたということです。
