This method was also used in a previous production by an outside craftsman.

ところで一般的な製品では、革を何枚か重ねた部分については縫って仕上げることが多いと思います。

以前、外部の職人さんによって製作したのも、この方式でした。

 

However, the current leather sheaths use a “glued-together style” of leather.

At the stage of development led by Craftswoman C, we decided on this style because we wanted to achieve a “clean design” that is rarely seen elsewhere.

(However, we only sewing around the entrance of the sheath, where the adhesive might come off due to the repeated insertion and removal of the knife.)

↑ Our previous leather sheath（以前の革鞘）

しかし現行の革鞘は、革同志を『接着剤で貼り合わせるスタイル』を採用しています。

女性の職人Ｃが中心になって開発する段階で、他ではあまり見ない『すっきりとしたデザイン』を実現したいということから、このスタイルに決めました。

（ただ、包丁の出し入れの繰り返しによって、接着がはがれる可能性のあるサヤの入口付近だけは縫っています）
