Improvement of Leather Sheath (2)

In the gallery attached to our company, we started by selling these leather sheath as a set with kitchen knives, so we were not sure how much “people who come to our store mainly for kitchen knives” liked these sheaths.

弊社に併設したギャラリーでは、この革サヤは包丁とセットで販売することから始めたので、『主に包丁を求めて来店される皆さん』がどの程度、このサヤを気に入って下さっているのかが分からずにいました。

However, now that several months have passed since the sale, we have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries about the possibility of attaching this sheath to knives that are not sold as a set, and we feel that awareness is gradually increasing.

By the way, the staff member who designs and produces this product has been doing leatherwork since she was a child, and her mother’s influence was quite significant.

Her mother is so dexterous that she has been making small leather goods and furniture by hand as a hobby for a long time.

This staff member has also had a lot of experience with making things since she was given a sewing set to buy when she was a child.

しかし、販売から数ヶ月が経過した今では、セット販売していない包丁に対しても『このサヤを付けることができるか』とお聞き頂くことが増えてきたので、少しずつ認知度も上がってきているように感じています。

ところで、この製品をデザインし製作もこなすスタッフは、小さい頃から革細工をしていたそうですが、それはお母さんの影響がかなり大きかったそうです。

お母さんは昔から趣味で革の小物を製作したり、家具も手作りしてしまうほど手先が器用な方とのことですが、このスタッフも小さい頃に裁縫セットを買い与えてもらってからというもの、たくさんモノづくりに親しんできたようです。
