Improvement of Leather Sheath (7)

The leather sheath immediately after the renewal had a three-layer structure, but we found that even with two layers, depending on the knife, problems such as “the sheath easily falling out” did not seem to occur in particular.

革サヤの改良 (7)

リニューアル直後の革サヤは３層構造でしたが、包丁によっては２層であっても『サヤが抜けやすい』などの問題は特に起きなさそうなことが分かりました。

The two-layer construction simplifies the structure and reduces the time required for production, which also allows us to introduce the product at a lower price.

Perhaps because of this, the number of suppliers adopting leather sheath has been increasing rapidly.

At first, we did not expect to receive so many orders so quickly, so we had to cut the pieces out of the leather one by one with a cutter, and in no time at all, we could not keep up with the work.

Incidentally, as I may have mentioned before, this leather sheath was designed by a woman who had been forging for several years at a blacksmith shop in Sakai before working for our company.

２層にすることによって構造がシンプルになり、製作にかかる時間も短縮できることから、より安い価格でご紹介できるようにもなりました。

そのせいもあってか、革サヤを採用して下さる取引先さんがどんどん増えました。

当初は、それほど早くたくさんのご注文を頂けるとは思っていなかったので、革からの切出し作業はカッターで一つずつ行っており、またたく間に作業が追い付かない状況になってしまいました。

ちなみにこの革サヤは、以前にもお伝えしたかも知れませんがデザインしたのは女性で、弊社で働く前は堺の鍛冶屋さんで数年間鍛造を行っていた人物です。
（今後、彼女のことは（女性の）職人Ｃと呼びます。）
