However, even though he was hired basically as a ‘sharpening craftsman’ and of course he himself had joined the company hoping to become one, he seemed to be getting a bit away from sharpening knives, so much so that we felt he might have grown tired of the process.

When we asked him several times about his sharpening work, each time he just said, ‘It’s fun,’ and the gap between his words and his actions, which did not seem to be very consistent with his words, only increased our doubts and concerns.

One time, when I was in a mood to listen to him at length, I took the plunge and delved into his true feelings.
Then I was able to get in touch with his deeper psychology, which I had not expected.

ただ、基本的には『研ぎ職人』として採用し、もちろん彼自身もそれを希望して入社していたにも関わらず、包丁の研ぎから少し遠のいているようにも見える彼は、その作業が嫌になってしまったのではないか、と感じるほどでした。

何度か研ぎの仕事について尋ねてみても、その度に彼は『楽しいです』というばかりで、その言葉とはとても一致しているようには見えない行動とのギャップで、こちらの疑問や悩みは増すばかりでした。

ある時、じっくり話を聞けそうな雰囲気になったときがあったので、思い切って彼の本音を掘り下げてみました。
すると、思ってもみなかった彼の深層心理に触れることができました。
