I had rarely spoken to people who owned natural whetstones before, but I immediately understood what they meant.

To use an analogy, a person who likes to cook would not be satisfied with a “kit that has all the necessary ingredients and seasonings, and all you have to do is mix them and heat them up,” even if it is based on a “recipe that is sure to be delicious.

I had never come across this kind of idea before, but what everyone at Ai&Om, who had not handled this product, had to say about it came as a shock in a way.

『そもそも天然砥石での研磨を楽しむような人達は、人から決められたような道具の範囲内では十分に楽しむことはできない』

これまで、天然砥石を所有する方々とはほとんど話したことがなかったのですが、その意味はすぐに分かりました。

例えて言うならば、料理が好きな人は例えそれが”間違いなく美味しいものができるレシピ”に基づいていたとしても、『材料と調味料の必要量が全て揃ってて、それを混ぜて加熱さえすれば料理が完成するキット』のようなものには満足しないというようなイメージでしょうか。

それまで、このような考えには全く行き当らなかったのですが、この商品を取り扱った訳でもないAi&Omの皆さんが口を揃えておっしゃったことは、ある意味衝撃的でした。
