Leather sheath in the process of production

We ask our staff’s mother, who is fond of making things, to help us with the intermediate process of leather sheath production.
I often feel as if I can see through a person’s thoughts about their work when I look at what they say and the things around them.

革サヤ 製作途中の様子

スタッフのお母さまがモノづくり好きだということで、革サヤ製作の途中工程をお願いしています。
僕は普段から、仕事に取り組む人の話す内容や、その人のまわりのものを見ると、その人の仕事に対する想いが透けて見えるように感じることがよくあります。

The person has put together the boxes of items that she has finished working on at home, and just from the way she arranges them, as if he does it casually, we get the sense that she takes great care in this work and enjoys it.

In manufacturing, it may not be too difficult to carefully finish only the first sample or the first delivery.
However, continuing to do so seems to be a different kind of difficulty.

Those who lack precision in what they say and how they are presenting themselves may start out carefully crafting things, but they will soon be unmasked.
We would like to continue to create new products with the help of various people so that we can continue good manufacturing for a long time to come.

その方が自宅での作業を終えたものを箱にまとめて下さっているのですが、ご本人が何気なくやっているような、このような並べ方からだけでも、この仕事に丁寧に取り組み、楽しんで下さっている雰囲気を感じます。

モノづくりをする中で、初回のサンプルや、最初の方の納品分だけを丁寧に仕上げることはさほど難しくないかも知れません。
しかしそれを継続することは、また違う難しさがあるように思います。

話す内容や、身の回りの様子に精細さを欠く方は、最初は丁寧にモノづくりをしていても、すぐに化けの皮ははがれてしまいます。
これからもいいモノづくりを長く続けられるように、色んな方の力を借りながら新たなものを生み出していきたいと思います。
