He seemed to have understood the points for improvement that I told him at that time, and the next knife he showed me had been improved.

Once we had this exchange, we returned to one-on-one instruction from senior staff as before.

I have him submit a brief report to me every week, and from the atmosphere of our conversations, it seems that he continues to enjoy the sharpening process without feeling any unnecessary pressure.

Incidentally, the other day he was cutting and fabricating steel material to be used for the foundation for the new equipment to be used for the sharpening operation in our company.

その時に伝えた改善点も自分なりにきちんと理解できていたようで、その次に見せてくれた包丁はそれらがしっかりと改善されていました。

一度このようなやりとりをした後は、また以前のように先輩からのマンツーマン指導に戻りました。

僕には簡単な報告書を毎週提出してもらっていますが、その時に交わす会話の雰囲気では余計なプレッシャーを感じることなく、今も楽しみながら研ぎの作業を続けられているようです。

先日、彼は研ぎの作業に使用する設備を自社内で新調するため、土台に使用する鉄鋼素材を切断加工してくれていました。
