We were considering purchasing a leather cutting machine, but I had no knowledge about it, so I sought information in many different directions.

革サヤの改良 (9)

購入を検討している革の裁断機ですが、それについての知識が全くなかったので、色んな方面に情報を求めました。

The first person I thought of was Nihei-san, who produces Sumiiro.

This is because, when I visited Nihei-san’s family business, a retailer of cutlery, I remembered seeing “a leather work made by Nihei-san himself” on display in the store.

When asked about cutting machines, he said that there are affordable manual types, but ‘if you make a lot of them, it can be quite hard work.

Moreover, when it comes to the size of the sheath, the cutting power was not strong enough and it might be necessary to punch them in two or three times.

So I decided to look for a hydraulic cutting machine.

まず最初に思いついたのが、Sumiiroを製作してくれている二瓶さんです。

というのも、以前二瓶さんの家業である刃物の小売店を訪ねたとき、『二瓶さん自身が製作した革細工の作品』が店頭に並べてあったのを思い出したからです。

裁断機について聞いてみると、価格の手頃な手動式のタイプもあるが『たくさんの数を作るとなるとかなりの重労働になる可能性がある』とのこと。

しかもサヤの大きさとなると、裁断の力が足りずに２～３回に分けて打ち抜く必要があるかも知れないとのことでした。

そこで、油圧式の裁断機を探すことにしました。
