I imagine it’s similar when skilled craftsmen consider going into business for themselves, but I think it’s a bit more complicated because so many other factors come into play.

Ultimately, I think the decision of whether or not to go independent boils down to one simple question: “Which option—staying with the company or going independent—offers me the greater benefits?”

Of course, running a business isn’t a volunteer endeavor, so a company that employs staff cannot continue to operate unless there are benefits for the company as well.

In short, I believe it all comes down to striking a balance between “how the company intends to secure those benefits” and “how employees perceive that situation.”

【No.397】独立志向のある職人との向き合い方 (3)

職人である従業員が独立を考える時も似たような感じかとは思いますが、さらに色んな要素が絡み、もう少し複雑であるように思います。

そもそも独立するかどうかを最終的に判断するのは、シンプルに『会社に残ることと独立することのどちらが、自分にとってのメリットが大きいか』ということに尽きると思います。

もちろん会社の運営はボランティアではないので、従業員を雇っている会社側にもメリットがないと経営を続けていけません。

要は『会社がどのようにしてそのメリットを確保しようとしているのか』、また『その状況を従業員がどう感じるか』のバランスが全てを決めるのだと思います。
