Back then, I questioned the “old ways” and made many improvements, but of course, those aren’t necessarily the best methods either.

However, since in most cases the “methods that were improved back then” are still being used today, I tell everyone on the team to “always think of better ways to do things and feel free to suggest improvements at any time.”

We believe that this approach will lead to innovation, exceed our customers’ expectations, and result in products that bring joy to everyone.

By the way, when it comes to “challenging conventional wisdom,” I believe this is important not only in product development but also in how we approach craftsmanship.

【No.375】幸之祐に関するご質問についての考察 (36)

当時の僕が、『古いやり方』に疑問を感じて改善したことはたくさんありますが、もちろんそれらも最善の方法だとは限りません。

しかし現状では『当時の改善後の方法』が、今もずっと続けられていることがほとんどなので、チームの皆には『常により良い方法を考え、いつでも改善提案をして欲しい』と伝えています。

このような姿勢が新たなものを生み、お客さんの期待を超え、皆さんに喜んで頂けるモノづくりに繋がると信じています。

ところで『常識をくつがえす』については、製品づくりだけでなく『職人仕事のとらえかた』についても大事なことだと考えます。
