The circular whetstone we were using before the replacement was the so-called “Sakai standard” wide type.

取り替える前に僕達が使用していた円砥は、いわゆる『堺標準』の幅の広いタイプでした。

After learning a lot from craftsmen in various parts of Japan, we felt that a type with a narrower width than the Sakai standard would be more beneficial, so we decided to try that in this roundabout.

Therefore, the flanges, which are normally used repeatedly, were to be replaced with new ones accordingly.

Rust-proofing was applied, bolts were installed, and installation in the “tub” was completed.

The machine was idled for a few minutes to ensure safety, and then sharpening could be resumed without incident.

日本各地の職人さんから色々と教わる中で、堺標準よりも幅を狭くしたタイプの方がメリットがあると感じたため、今回の円砥ではそれを試してみることにしました。

そのため、通常は繰り返し使用するフランジも、これに合わせて新調することになりました。

錆止めを施しボルトを取り付け、『桶』への設置も完了しました。

数分間空転して安全性を確認し、無事研ぎを再開することができました。
