I imagine it\u2019s similar when skilled craftsmen consider going into business for themselves, but I think it\u2019s a bit more complicated because so many other factors come into play.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, I think the decision of whether or not to go independent boils down to one simple question: \u201cWhich option\u2014staying with the company or going independent\u2014offers me the greater benefits?\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, running a business isn\u2019t a volunteer endeavor, so a company that employs staff cannot continue to operate unless there are benefits for the company as well.<\/p>\n

In short, I believe it all comes down to striking a balance between \u201chow the company intends to secure those benefits\u201d and \u201chow employees perceive that situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
