The president of the manufacturer in Kobe, to whom I was referred, was willing to listen to me despite our sudden visit without an appointment.<\/p>\n

In fact, on this visit to Himeji, I had stopped by another leather goods store, which happened to be operated by a tanner (a company that processes raw hides into leather in a non-rotting state) with a large factory.<\/p>\n

I told them about our situation and consulted with them, and they agreed to show me around their factory, which is equipped with a hydraulic cutting machine.<\/p>\n

There were three machines set up there, but they appeared to be used ones taken over from a business partner several years ago, and only one of them was currently in operation.<\/p>\n

The cutting machine is not only used internally, but they have also started a rental service for outside parties.<\/p>\n

The price was not very high, and the structure was very attractive to us, but it was not practical for us to commute to that location, which is more than 100 kilometers away, for an hour and a half each way for each of those operations, so we gave up on that proposal.<\/p>\n
