It seemed to me that the blacksmiths I visited this time have been freed from the situation where they had to \u201cjust make a lot of knives,\u201d and are now moving toward their own new goals.<\/p>\n

The representative of a knife manufacturer, who is also a blacksmith himself, said that in the future he would like to build a facility to teach people how to sharpen kitchen knives.<\/p>\n

According to him, when people who buy knives sharpen them by themselves do not sharpen them well or get a good edge, it is not necessarily due to a lack of skill on their part.<\/p>\n

In fact, he said, the manufacturing process is not well controlled, and knives of poor quality abound in the market.
\nBy acquiring basic knowledge of sharpening, they are able to distinguish between a really good knife and a really bad one.<\/p>\n

He says that his sense of crisis is rooted in the fact that too many knives are sold at high prices because they look respectable or because of the global boom in kitchen knives.<\/p>\n
