Problem 4 ; Saya prices do not go up.<\/p>\n

Although the work continues to be modest and requires careful attention, the market price of saya seems to have hardly gone up, even as the price of knives and other items increase.<\/p>\n

In order for the knife industry to continue, the craftsmen and others involved in the industry must be able to secure profits and the financial strength to hire young staff and potential successors.
\nOf course, this is true not only for suppliers but also for our own company.<\/p>\n

To this end, we have been working to increase the value added through product improvements and raise the selling price in order to get Saya’s craftsmen to raise their purchase prices as well.
\nIn fact, we began several years ago to propose higher prices than those offered by the craftsmen and purchase from them.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, however, at this point in time, this is becoming more difficult due to quality degradation caused by inexperienced craftsmen and problems with variations in materials (e.g., two-tone coloring of the saya).<\/p>\n

The difficulty in raising the selling price also means that we cannot secure sufficient profits in-house, and the burden of preparing the sayas, which we introduced in the previous article, is getting heavier and heavier, and we are also approaching a situation where ‘in total, selling sayas is less profitable than shipping without sayas.<\/p>\n

These problems, which began to slowly become apparent over the years, have forced us to consider discontinuing the traditional saya.<\/p>\n

This is the background that necessitated the development of a new method of saya.
