With the boom in Japanese knives around the world, it took a lot of time to arrange for knives and handles, and in addition, Saya’s craftsmen became extremely busy.<\/p>\n

There were many situations in which the handle installation was completed but the product could not be shipped, and in some cases it took more than a year to arrange for the saya.<\/p>\n

\u25cfProblem 3 ; Drilling holes for pins<\/p>\n

After the knives and sayas have been arranged with the handle inserted, the final step is to drill the holes for the pins.<\/p>\n

There are individual differences in the shape of knives, and the optimal position of the pin will vary depending on the depth of the handle installation.<\/p>\n

If you try to aim at the very edge of the knife to hold it firmly, the pin will overlap with the knife position and cannot be inserted (Photo A),
\nif you leave too much room for any knife, the knife will rattle inside the saya (Photo B).<\/p>\n

With these in mind, we will position the holes one by one.<\/p>\n

But, of course, these tasks were within the scope of the work that had been contemplated from the beginning, so there was no problem.<\/p>\n

Recently, however, it has gradually become more and more difficult to continue this process.<\/p>\n
