The impetus for the manufacture of pin-less saya (1)<\/h2>\n

When we launched Konosuke in 2006, most of our customers were Japanese, and it was rare for them to purchase saya (sheath) together.<\/p>\n

However, a few years later, when we started exporting our products overseas, most of our customers started requesting sayas, and since then we have prepared and shipped the same number of sayas as knives.<\/p>\n

Many problems always occur in the manufacturing process, but there have been a number of problems with sayas in the past.<\/p>\n

\u25cfProblem 1 ; difficulty in arranging pins<\/p>\n

The pins used by Konosuke are originally created by visiting various companies in Japan, so they are manufactured from scratch each time.<\/p>\n

After the pin itself was completed, we asked another company to attach the tassels, but we later found out that both companies had actually outsourced their production overseas.<\/p>\n

I was worried because Konosuke products were basically manufactured in Japan, but since there was no quality problem, I decided to continue using them.<\/p>\n

However, the manufacturing process is quite a long journey: \u201cPins manufactured overseas arrive in Japan, our company receives them and sends them to another company, which sends them to an overseas contractor, where they are tasseled, and then they come back to Japan.<\/p>\n

Under normal circumstances, there were not many problems, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and wars in many countries, there were more and more delays in flights for imports and exports.<\/p>\n

Also, back around 2014, we were forced to switch to polyester because the cotton tassels it had employed could no longer be manufactured.<\/p>\n

Perhaps because the thread itself is more slippery than cotton, after the change, it was slightly easier to untie than the original version, which remained an issue.<\/p>\n
