As a follow-up to my August 1 post, I immediately practiced “sharpening the cutting edge using a machine” with younger staff members.<\/p>\n
\uff18\u6708\uff11\u65e5\u306e\u6295\u7a3f\u306e\u7d9a\u304d\u3067\u3059\u304c\u3001\u65e9\u901f\u82e5\u624b\u30b9\u30bf\u30c3\u30d5\u3068\u5171\u306b\u300e\u6a5f\u68b0\u3092\u4f7f\u7528\u3057\u305f\u672c\u5203\u4ed8\u3051\u300f\u306e\u7df4\u7fd2\u3092\u3057\u3066\u307f\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

It had been two years since I last practiced, but the process was relatively simple, so I was able to recall the basic steps right away.
\nI sharpened it myself first, and after trying this and that, I was able to reconfirm that I could safely sharpen it to a reasonable degree.<\/p>\n
When I was a young man, if I asked my father a question about a task, he would show me how to do it, but he would often complete the task as is, and the next time I tried it myself, I could not do it at all.
\nThis made me realize that when teaching someone to do a task, it is quite important that ‘the person being taught finish the task on his\/her own, even if he\/she does not understand everything perfectly.<\/p>\n
This young staff had been practicing “the process before sharpening the cutting edge” for a long time, so I asked him to prepare knives that had already been grinded, and aimed to have them complete the sharpening process from the first step to the last step, by himself.
\nWhen he proceeded with the process as he had told, he was able to produce a good cutting edge relatively quickly, albeit only partially.<\/p>\n
Now that he has tasted success up to that point, the next step is ‘how to make it more efficient and make it look good.
\nI decided to let him continue to practice on his own on that.<\/p>\n
