When I was in my 20s, I joined a general company right after graduating from university, and I felt a great sense of discomfort.<\/p>\n
First, about overtime.<\/p>\n
I was in a sales position and was paid a separate “sales allowance”. However, the amount was fixed, so even if I worked more overtime, my income didn’t increase.<\/p>\n
Personally, I tend to lose concentration when I work long hours, but at that company it was considered normal to stay at the office until a certain amount of time.<\/p>\n
No matter how efficient I was at getting the day’s work done, my motivation to work steadily decreased in an atmosphere where I wasn’t allowed to go home early.<\/p>\n
Next, about vacation.<\/p>\n
There was a pervasive atmosphere within the company where employees were not even allowed to say the word, let alone take “paid vacation”.<\/p>\n
Personally, I felt very dissatisfied with this because I can’t put enough energy into work unless I take a good rest and feel refreshed.<\/p>\n
“I could work harder if I had a more conducive environment to work in, so why don’t they create that?”
\nI couldn’t help but wonder about this company’s policy.<\/p>\n
Based on this huge sense of discomfort that I felt at that time, my company has now achieved a system of “zero overtime” and “you can take paid vacation whenever you want”.<\/p>\n
As a result, we were able to receive recognition from a public organization as “A company that actively strives to achieve a work-life balance for its employees and create a workplace environment where women can play an active role.<\/p>\n
Once you eliminate the discomfort, some kind of change will definitely occur.
